Biography

Michael Kushmerek is a member of the Democratic Party and serves as a representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 3rd Worcester District. He assumed office on January 6, 2021, and his current term is set to end on January 1, 2025.

Kushmerek ran for re-election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives to represent the 3rd Worcester District and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. Prior to this, he was a 2017 Democratic special election candidate for the Worcester & Middlesex District of the Massachusetts State Senate, but was defeated in the primary election on November 7, 2017.

In terms of education, Kushmerek earned a B.A. in history and political science from Fitchburg State University in 2008 and an M.A. in history from the same university in 2013. His career experience includes working as the director of major gifts with Northeastern University, director of development with Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and director of annual giving with Fitchburg State University.

Kushmerek has also been assigned to several committees, including the Human Resources and Employee Engagement Committee, Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery Joint Committee, Public Service Joint Committee, and the Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development Joint Committee, where he serves as Vice Chair.
