Biography

John J. Mahoney is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 13th Worcester District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He assumed office in 2011 and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Mahoney is a small business owner and attended Bryant College. Over the years, he has been assigned to various committees including the House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, Public Health Joint Committee, and House Redistricting Committee among others.

He has sponsored numerous bills related to various issues such as consumer protection, environment and natural resources, health care financing, public safety and homeland security, and public service. His legislative efforts also include bills related to strengthening the penalty for assault on emergency medical technicians and health care providers, establishing an electronic system of public reporting for providers, and regulating toxic use reduction plans.
