Biography

Aaron Saunders is a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 7th Hampden District. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party and assumed office on January 4, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Saunders has over twenty years of experience in local, state, and federal government. This includes six years as Chief of Staff to former Senator Gale Candaras and seven years serving on the Ludlow Select Board. In addition to his public sector work, Aaron is co-founder of Loophole Brewing and serves in several additional civic roles.

He has been active in sponsoring legislation, with a focus on areas such as education, environment and natural resources, public health, public service, and telecommunications, utilities and energy. His work includes efforts to regulate access to certain library materials, further school building assistance, manage forest practices guidelines, and regulate the installation of solar energy systems, among others.

Saunders earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2002. His career experience includes co-founding Loophole Brewing Services and working as the senior vice president of Benchmark Strategies, the senior manager of government and community relations of Comcast, and the chief of staff of the Office of State Senator Gale Candaras. He has been affiliated with the Ludlow Boys Club & Girls Club Corporation.

In the general election for the Massachusetts House of Representatives 7th Hampden District on November 8, 2022, Saunders won with 52.7% of the votes.
