Dave Wordekemper is a member of the Republican Party serving in the Nebraska State Senate, representing District 15. He assumed office on January 8, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 3, 2029.
Born and raised in West Point, Nebraska, Dave Wordekemper has dedicated his life to public service and community well-being. A graduate of West Point Central Catholic High School in 1984, he later pursued an associate degree in fire science from Virginia Western Community College in 1993. His professional career as a firefighter and paramedic reflects his commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring public safety.
Wordekemper’s journey into politics began with a focus on addressing critical issues such as public safety, state spending, and tax relief. His campaign for the Nebraska State Senate was marked by a strong connection with the residents of District 15, which includes Fremont and its surrounding areas. In the 2024 general election, he secured a decisive victory, earning 53% of the votes.
Beyond his legislative duties, Wordekemper is an active member of several organizations, including the Nebraska Professional Firefighters Association, the International Association of Firefighters, and the Knights of Columbus Council 1497. He is also a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Together with his wife, Barbara, a registered nurse, he has raised two sons and a daughter, fostering a family deeply rooted in community values.
