Biography

WAYNE LAROCHE lives in Franklin, Vermont, and was born in Sheldon, Vermont. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans in 1968. He received a BS in Wildlife Management from the University of Maine in 1972. After graduating, he worked as a marine biologist specializing in the developmental biology of marine fishes at the University of Maine, Oregon State University, and University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Center in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He earned an MS in Natural Resource Management from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, in 1986. He owned, operated, and worked in a variety of businesses, including environmental consulting, construction, restaurant, and dairy feed operations. He was appointed by Governor Douglas and served as Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Wildlife from 2003 to 2011. He served as Director of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Bureau of Wildlife Management from 2015 until retiring in 2018.
