Vernon Stephens (born December 14, 1957) is an American politician. He hails from Bowman, South Carolina, and has been serving as a member of the South Carolina Senate since 2021. Stephens is affiliated with the Democratic party.

His journey to the Senate began in the 2020 election cycle. In the Democratic primary, Stephens emerged as the top candidate, securing victory over three other contenders. He then went on to win the general election, maintaining the Democratic hold on the seat.

Stephens wears another hat within the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus: he serves as their Parliamentarian. His commitment to public service extends beyond politics; he has also been involved with the Bowman Branch of the NAACP.
