Val Butler Demings (born March 12, 1957) is a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Florida. She represented Florida’s 10th Congressional District in Congress, serving three terms from January 3, 2017, to January 3, 2023. During this period, she held the role of Representative and was affiliated with the Democratic Party.
Demings’s tenure in the House marked her as a notable federal legislator from Florida in the late 2010s and early 2020s. As the representative for the 10th District, she participated in the lawmaking process and contributed to the work of the U.S. Congress over the course of her three terms. After leaving office in 2023, she became a historical member of Congress, recognized for her service to Florida at the national level.
