Ty Mathews is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 83. He assumed office on January 1, 2025, and his current term is set to end on December 31, 2026.
Born and raised in Ohio, Ty Mathews has dedicated his career to serving his community and state. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Cedarville University in 2018 and later pursued a master’s degree in executive leadership from Liberty University, graduating in 2023. His academic background laid the foundation for his commitment to public service and leadership.
Before entering politics, Mathews gained valuable experience working as a legislative and policy assistant with the Ohio Treasurer’s Office. This role allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the legislative process and the intricacies of state governance. Additionally, he served as an infantry officer with the U.S. Army National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to both his country and his state.
In 2024, Mathews ran for election to the Ohio House of Representatives, successfully defeating his opponents in both the primary and general elections. His campaign focused on issues such as economic development, education reform, and support for veterans and military families. As a representative, he continues to advocate for policies that promote growth and opportunity for the residents of District 83, which includes Hancock, Hardin, and portions of Logan counties.
Mathews is known for his collaborative approach to governance, working across party lines to address the needs of his constituents. Outside of his legislative duties, he remains actively involved in his community, participating in local events and supporting initiatives that benefit the people of his district.
