Biography

Tupuola Laneselota Sopoaga is a member of the American Samoa Senate, representing the county of Ituau in Senate District 7. He was selected to succeed Senator Alo Paul Stevenson, who died in April 2026 while serving his third Senate term. After a committee appointed by Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean reviewed whether his selection complied with statutory requirements, he took the oath of office on July 13, 2026, before the opening of the Fourth Regular Session of the 39th Legislature. Like all members of the American Samoa Senate, he serves without party affiliation.
