Travis M. Sitzmann is an American politician who has made significant contributions to the state of Iowa. Born and raised near Le Mars, Iowa, Sitzmann attended Gehlen Catholic High School. He later pursued higher education at the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned a degree in political science.1
Sitzmann’s early career was diverse and impactful. He worked for Wells Enterprises and SmithCo Manufacturing in environmental health and safety roles. He also served as a risk consultant for The Travelers Companies. His commitment to public service was evident early on, as he served as a Plymouth County reserve sheriff’s deputy.
In 2024, Sitzmann entered the political arena by running for the Iowa House of Representatives District 13 seat. He won the Republican Party primary against Noah Wieseler and subsequently triumphed in the general election, defeating Democratic candidate Rosanne Plante and independent candidate Parker Hansen. His victory marked the beginning of his tenure in the Iowa House of Representatives, where he assumed office on January 1, 2025.
As a state representative, Sitzmann has been actively involved in various committees, including Agriculture, Economic Growth and Technology, Environmental Protection, and Labor and Workforce. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Administration and Regulation Appropriations Subcommittee.
