Timothy “T.J.” Brown Jr. is a Republican member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 27. He assumed office on March 12, 2025, following his unanimous election by District 27 Republicans to fill the seat vacated by the late Representative Josh Christy. His current term will end on December 1, 2026.
Born and raised in North Dakota, T.J. developed a strong commitment to public service early in life. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably as a medic. His military experience instilled in him a deep sense of duty, discipline, and compassion, qualities that have guided his subsequent career in both law enforcement and entrepreneurship.
After completing his military service, T.J. transitioned to a career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer in West Fargo. In this role, he worked diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of his community, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by both law enforcement personnel and the citizens they serve.
In addition to his public service, T.J. is a successful entrepreneur. He is the owner of The Range, a virtual shooting range and training center located in Fargo. This innovative facility offers a safe and educational environment for individuals to learn about firearm safety and improve their shooting skills. Furthermore, T.J. operates Tea Party Solutions, a firearms training company and podcast that provides education and resources on Second Amendment rights and responsible gun ownership.
T.J.’s legislative priorities reflect his deep-rooted values and commitment to his constituents. He is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, advocating for the protection of citizens’ rights to bear arms. Additionally, he is firmly opposed to abortion, emphasizing the importance of protecting the sanctity of life. T.J. also focuses on reducing taxes, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on North Dakota residents and promote economic growth within the state.
Residing in the Osgood area of south Fargo, T.J. is a devoted family man. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Courtney, and together they have three children. Balancing his roles as a husband, father, business owner, and legislator, T.J. strives to represent the values and interests of his community effectively.
