Tim Goodwin is a Republican member of the South Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 30. He assumed office on January 10, 2017, and his current term is set to end on January 12, 2027.

Born on May 6, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tim Goodwin has had a diverse and accomplished career. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Over the course of 24 years, he rose through the ranks and retired with the distinguished title of Lieutenant Colonel. His military service instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and commitment to public service.

After retiring from the Army, Goodwin transitioned into the business world, where he worked as a salesman. His professional experience, combined with his military background, provided him with a unique perspective on leadership and problem-solving. These qualities have been instrumental in his political career.

Goodwin has been an active and influential figure in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Since 2019, he has served as one of the Majority Whips, a role that underscores his leadership within the Republican Party. Throughout his tenure, he has been involved in various committees, including those focused on agriculture, natural resources, military and veterans’ affairs, and state affairs.
