Biography

THOMAS “TOM” OLIVER JR. was born in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Burlington when he was eight years old. He attended Burlington High School and went on to study the social sciences at Champlain College. He began his career in law enforcement in 1986 and attended the VCJTC in 1990. He worked for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department until 2019, ending his tenure as chief deputy. He currently works as State Deputy Sheriff in Burlington. He volunteered for Amcare Ambulance and was a justice of the peace in Sheldon. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Missisquoi Sportsman’s Club. Tom is a competitive shooter in many disciplines, and an active pyrotechnician who is licensed in several states. He loves to travel. Tom lives in Sheldon with his wife, Laurie, and their two children, a son, Evan, and a daughter, Maegan.
