Biography

Thomas Charles McGrath (born April 22, 1927) is a former American politician who represented New Jersey in the United States House of Representatives. A member of the Democratic Party, he served a single term as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District from January 4, 1965, to January 3, 1967. During this period, he was part of the 89th Congress, serving at the federal level as a legislator for his state.

McGrath’s tenure in Congress marked his principal period of national public service. As a representative from New Jersey’s 2nd District, he participated in the work of the House of Representatives during a time of significant political and social change in the mid-1960s. After leaving office at the conclusion of his term in 1967, he did not return to Congress, and he is regarded as a historical member of the House from New Jersey.
