Thedis Crowe is a dedicated public servant and a proud member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 15. Born and raised in Browning, Montana, she grew up on the Blackfeet Reservation, which deeply influenced her commitment to advocating for her community and preserving the cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples.
Crowe pursued her education at Montana State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in land resource sciences in 1991. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for leadership led her to further her studies, completing a graduate degree in Native American studies with a minor in management and public administration in 2003. These academic achievements laid the foundation for her impactful career in public service.
Before entering politics, Crowe amassed over three decades of experience working in federal agencies. She served with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service for 19 years, where she focused on sustainable land management and conservation efforts. Following this, she dedicated 14 years to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where she worked tirelessly to address the needs of Indigenous communities. Her professional journey also includes active involvement in her family’s ranching operation near Heart Butte, Montana, showcasing her deep connection to the land and rural life.
In 2024, Crowe ran for election to the Montana House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic Party. Her campaign emphasized the importance of community-driven solutions, environmental stewardship, and the empowerment of underrepresented voices. She won the election and assumed office in January 2025, becoming a strong advocate for the residents of District 15. Her district encompasses parts of Glacier, Pondera, Flathead, and Lake counties, including the Blackfeet and Flathead Indian Reservations, making her role particularly significant in representing Indigenous communities.
Throughout her career, Thedis Crowe has been recognized for her unwavering dedication to public service, her ability to bridge cultural divides, and her commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
