Tamarra Butler-Washington is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 69 in the Mississippi House of Representatives. She assumed office on January 2, 2024, and her current term ends on January 4, 2028.

She was born on October 29, 1974, in Jackson, Mississippi. She is married to Brain D. Washington and they have a son, Brian E. Washington. Tamarra Butler-Washington is of the Baptist faith.

She earned a B.A. in political science from Alcorn State University and an M.S. in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her career experience includes working as a division director for the Mississippi Department of Health, a chief administrator at the City of Jackson, a community health advisor/program manager at the American Cancer Society, a program coordinator at the Mississippi Health Advocacy Program, and a docket and calendar clerk at the Mississippi State Senate.

Tamarra Butler-Washington ran for election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 69. She won in the general election on November 7, 2023. Prior to her election, she was the first candidate to file following Clarke’s retirement announcement.

In the Democratic primary runoff for Mississippi House of Representatives District 69, Tamarra Butler-Washington defeated Patty Patterson on August 29, 2023. She then went on to win the general election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 69 on November 7, 2023.

As a representative, she is dedicated to serving her constituents and working towards the betterment of her district and the state of Mississippi.
