Biography

Sylvester Clark Smith (born August 26, 1858) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from California. He represented California’s 8th Congressional District and served as a federal legislator during the early twentieth century. Identified in congressional records by the bioguide ID S000614, he is recognized as a historical member of Congress.

Smith began his service in the U.S. House of Representatives on December 4, 1905, and remained in office until March 3, 1913. Over the course of this period, he completed four terms as a Representative.
