Steven McCutcheon II, a native of Carlsbad, New Mexico, has dedicated his life to public service. He served on the Eddy County Commission from 2018 to 2022, where he demonstrated his commitment to the community. Beyond his political career, McCutcheon is also a rancher and businessman.

Family and Personal Life

McCutcheon has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 12 years, and they have four children. His strong family values and sense of responsibility drive his work in the Senate.

Appointment and Goals

In September 2023, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham appointed McCutcheon to fill the District 42 state Senate seat vacated by Sen. Gay Kernan. The district spans portions of Chavez, Eddy, and Lea counties. McCutcheon’s term began immediately and will continue until the next general election.

Advocacy and Priorities

As a senator, McCutcheon advocates for the oil and gas industry, border security, and the rights of gun owners.
