Biography

Solomon Francis Prouty (born January 17, 1854) was a Republican politician who represented the state of Iowa in the United States House of Representatives in the early twentieth century. A member of the U.S. Congress from Iowa’s 7th Congressional District, he served as a Representative during a period of national political change and regional development in the Midwest.

Prouty entered Congress on April 4, 1911, and served until March 3, 1915, completing two terms in office. During this time, he sat in the House as a Republican, representing the interests of his Iowa constituents at the federal level. His tenure in Congress marked his principal period of national public service, and he is remembered as a historical member of Congress from Iowa for the years 1911 to 1915.
