Sean Bagniewski is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 35. He assumed office on January 1, 2023, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Bagniewski ran for election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 35 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. In the general election for Iowa House of Representatives District 35, Bagniewski defeated Dennis McCullough, securing 76.9% of the votes.
Bagniewski earned a B.S. in political science from Truman State University in 2005 and a J.D. from Drake University in 2008. His career experience includes working as an attorney, a federal contract administrator with the Polk County Board of Supervisors, and a Medicaid provider services manager with Maximus.
In addition to his legislative duties, Bagniewski has been assigned to several committees in the 2023-2024 session, including the House Appropriations Committee, House Commerce Committee, House Government Oversight Committee, and House Transportation Committee.
Bagniewski’s base salary as a legislator is $25,000 per year. Legislators who live outside of Polk County receive a per diem of $175 per day, while those who live within Polk County receive $131.25 per day.
In the Democratic primary for Iowa House of Representatives District 35, Bagniewski advanced from the primary on June 7, 2022, securing 98.8% of the votes.
