Biography

Scott F. Talley (born June 25, 1976) is an American politician. He is a member of the South Carolina Senate from the 12th District (Spartanburg), serving since 2016. Prior to his Senate tenure, he represented the 34th House District in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Talley is affiliated with the Republican party.

Talley was first elected to the South Carolina Senate in 2016, after a successful second primary challenge against the incumbent. In 2022, he announced that he would be retiring and not seeking re-election in the 2024 race. Notably, in June 2023, Talley endorsed Tim Scott in the 2024 United States presidential election.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Talley currently resides there with his wife, Kelly, and their three children. He is also the Vice President of the Tyger River Foundation, an organization dedicated to the promotion, protection, and restoration of the natural and historic resources of the Tyger River Basin.
