Representative H. Sawin Millett Jr. from Waterford is currently in his ninth, non-consecutive term in the Maine House. Sawin plays a pivotal role as the Republican lead on both the Appropriations & Financial Affairs and Government Oversight Committees. Previously, Rep. Millett has contributed his expertise to the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs.
Sawin’s diverse career spans roles as a teacher, coach, principal, assistant superintendent, farmer, and state commissioner, with service under Governors Longley, Brennan, McKernan, King, and LePage. His extensive community involvement includes membership in the Masons, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Society for the Protection of Animals. Additionally, he has served as a Selectman.
Rep. Millett earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College in 1959 and obtained his Masters in Education degree from the University of Maine in 1961.
