Sarah Stevens is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving as a representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 90, since 2009. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025. She is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 90 and is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Republican primary for this office on March 5, 2024, was canceled.

Stevens’ professional experience includes working as an attorney. Over the years, she has been assigned to various committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, Stevens was assigned to the Appropriations Committee, House Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety Committee, Judiciary II Committee (Chair), House Redistricting Committee, and Regulatory Reform Committee. In the 2021-2022 session, she was assigned to the Judiciary II Committee (Chair), Regulatory Reform Committee, Appropriations Committee, and Appropriations on Capital Committee.

In the 2019-2020 session, Stevens was assigned to the Appropriations on Capital Committee, Appropriations Committee, Homelessness, Foster Care, and Dependency Committee, House Judiciary Committee (Chair), and Regulatory Reform Committee. At the beginning of the 2017 legislative session, Stevens served on the Appropriations, Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety, Homelessness, Foster Care, and Dependency, Judiciary I (Vice chair), Regulatory Reform, State Personnel, and Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House (Vice chair) committees.
