Biography

Samuel Houston Givhan, known as Sam Givhan, was born on February 23, 1967, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, U.S. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving as a member of the Alabama State Senate, representing the 7th district since November 7, 2018.

Before his tenure in the Alabama Senate, he held the position of finance director from 2013 to 2014 and chairman from 2014 to 2018 for the Madison County Republican Party. In addition to his political career, Givhan is also a lawyer.

On a personal note, Givhan married Heather Annelle King on August 8, 1992. They have six children together and reside in Huntsville, Alabama, U.S.

Givhan’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Auburn University, which he earned in 1989. He later pursued a J.D. from the University of Alabama, graduating in 1994.

In terms of his professional career, Givhan has worked as a real estate attorney. He represents community lenders, developers, builders, homeowners associations, and the City of Huntsville.

Givhan’s political career has been marked by his commitment to his constituents in the 7th district of Alabama. His current term in the Alabama State Senate is set to end on November 4, 2026.
