Biography

Ross Turner is an American politician and insurance businessman. Born on May 15, 1964, in Greenville, South Carolina, he has been a member of the South Carolina Senate from the 8th District (Greenville) since 2012. Turner is affiliated with the Republican party.

He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Financial Management in 1986. In 1990, he married Julie Barker, and they have three children: Clarence Ross “Clay” IV, Carey, and Ellis. Turner is the president of The Turner Agency, Inc., a family-owned insurance business.

Throughout his political career, Turner has been actively involved in various state senate committees, including Banking and Insurance, Corrections and Penology, Education, and Finance. Notably, he was part of the Reopen South Carolina select committee, which focused on policy for the state’s post-COVID economic reopening.

In the 2024 United States presidential election, Turner endorsed Tim Scott. His commitment to public service and his role in shaping South Carolina’s policies make him a notable figure in state politics.
