Ronald Winterton is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Republican party. He is currently serving as a member of the Utah Senate, representing the 20th District. His journey in the Utah Senate began in 2023, prior to which he represented the 26th District starting from 2019.
Before his tenure in the Senate, Winterton served as a Duchesne County Commissioner, a position he held from 2009 to 2019. His commitment to public service is evident in his decade-long tenure as a county commissioner.
In 2018, Winterton decided to run for election to the Utah State Senate, representing the 26th district. This district covers Daggett, Duchesne, Summit, Uintah, and Wasatch counties. His campaign was successful, and he won a three-way Republican primary with 43.1% of the vote. He went on to win the general election with 62.7% of the vote.
As a senator, Winterton has been active in various Senate committees. He is the Chair of the Health and Human Services committee and also sits on the Transportation, Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology committee. These roles allow him to influence policies and legislation in key areas that impact the lives of the residents of Utah.
On a personal note, Winterton is married to Lori Jo and they have five children. They reside in Roosevelt, Utah. Apart from his political career, Winterton has also worked as a professional service consultant, owner/operator of Winterton Transportation, and driver at Basin Wholesale West. He is a graduate of Union High School.
Throughout his career, Winterton has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving his community and the state of Utah. His work in the Senate continues to reflect his dedication to public service.
