Robert Tyrone Reives II, born on September 24, 1970, is an American politician from North Carolina. He is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 54th district in the North Carolina House of Representatives. The 54th district includes all of Chatham County and parts of Durham County.
Reives was first appointed to the North Carolina House of Representatives in January 2014 and has subsequently been re-elected four times, most recently in 2020. His current term ends on January 1, 2025. He is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 54 and is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Reives earned his B.S. in business administration/Finance from UNC Chapel Hill and his J.D. from the UNC School of Law. His professional experience includes working as an attorney at Wilson & Reives Attorney’s at Law.
In December 2020, Reives was elected by his peers as the House Democratic leader. He has served on several committees during his tenure, including the Appropriations Committee, House Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety Committee, Federal Relations and American Indian Affairs Committee, Marine Resources and Aqua Culture Committee, House Redistricting Committee, Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House Committee, and more.
Reives has a strong electoral history. In the 2020 North Carolina House of Representatives 54th district general election, he secured 61.22% of the votes. In the 2018 general election, he secured 63.27% of the votes, and in the 2016 general election, he secured 57.20% of the votes.
