Biography

Paul Utke is an American politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. He is a member of the Republican Party of Minnesota and represents District 5.

Born on December 3, 1956, Utke was raised in North Dakota. He graduated from Enderlin High School in 1975 and later studied at the North Dakota State College of Science.

Utke’s career experience includes working for Mack Truck dealers, owning a small business, serving as a licensed insurance agent, and working as a certified legal videographer. He owned a hardware store in Park Rapids for 16 years.

In 2008, Utke was elected to the Park Rapids City Council, where he served for seven years. He also chaired the Hubbard County Republicans and has served on boards of several local organizations.

Utke was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2016 and has since been re-elected in 2020 and 2022. His legislative service has been marked by his commitment to the people of District 5.

On a personal note, Utke and his wife, Nancy, have two children and reside in Park Rapids. In addition to his political career, Utke continues to work as an insurance broker and commercial landlord.
