Biography

Paul LePage was sworn in as governor of Maine on January 5, 2011, and was sworn in for his second term on January 6, 2015.

The oldest son of 18 children in an impoverished family, LePage left home at the age of 11 and lived on the streets for two years, making living shining shoes. At age 13, he was jointly adopted by two families who provided for him and gave him opportunities to work and put himself through school.

LePage served as the mayor of Waterville, Maine. He has been the general manager of Marden’s Surplus and Salvage, a well-known retail institution, since 1996.

LePage graduated from the Husson University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned an MBA from the University of Maine.
