Dr. Mike Fanning, a native and lifelong South Carolinian, holds degrees from Wofford College, Benedict College, and the University of South Carolina (where he earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy). He is an active-service veteran of the US Army and has a background as a former teacher. Since 2016, he has been serving as a member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 17th District, which includes Chester, Fairfield, and York Counties. Fanning is affiliated with the Democratic party.1
