Biography

Michael David Cameron, born on July 21, 1959, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is an American minister and politician from Georgia. He is a member of the Republican Party and represents District 1 in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Cameron and his family lived in Rossville, Georgia, and Lookout Valley, Tennessee. In 1977, he graduated from Lookout Valley High School. He furthered his education by earning an Associate of Science degree in Business from Chattanooga State in 1979. In 1987, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

Cameron began his career in the health insurance industry for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee in 1982, where he worked until his retirement in 2014. He also serves as a Lay Minister at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in East Ridge, Tennessee.

On November 3, 2020, Cameron won the election unopposed and became a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives for District 1. His current term ends on January 13, 2025. He ran for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 1 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

In addition to his legislative duties, Cameron has been assigned to several committees. In the 2023-2024 term, he served on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee, House Appropriations Committee, House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, Human Relations and Aging Committee (as Vice Chair), Industry and Labor Committee, and House Interstate Cooperation Committee (as Secretary).
