Michael Garrett is a Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing the 27th district. He was elected in 2018, defeating Republican incumbent Trudy Wade. He has been serving as a member of the North Carolina Senate from the 27th district since January 1, 2019.

Garrett was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, in 2007. His career experience includes working as the managing partner of a family-owned marketing firm.
