Matt Woods is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives since November 8, 2022. He represents Alabama’s 13th House district.

Electoral History: Matt Woods was elected on November 8, 2022, in the 2022 Alabama House of Representatives election against Libertarian opponent Mark Davenport. He assumed office the next day on November 9, 2022.

Education: Woods graduated with an Associate degree in liberal arts and sciences from Bevill State Community College in 2002 and with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University in 2004. He graduated from Oakman High School in 2000.

Family and Early Life: Matt Woods is a lifelong resident of Walker County. He grew up in the Providence community and is the oldest of four sons to Jimmy and Debbie Woods of Oakman. His father, Jim “Jimmy” Woods was a coal miner, but got laid off. He started a company with his son, Jasper Auto Sales.

Career: Woods’ career experience includes working as the manager of Jasper Auto Sales. He has served on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees.

Personal Life: Matt Woods is married to Brandi and they have a child named Camden. They reside in Jasper, Alabama.
