Malcolm Omar is an independent member of the Northern Mariana Islands House of Representatives, representing District 4 (Saipan). Omar, whose full name is Malcolm Jason Omar, first ran for the House as an independent in 2018 but was not elected. Omar won a seat in the November 2022 election and took office in January 2023, then was re-elected in 2024.1
District 4 is a two-member district on Saipan. In 2022 Omar ran together with incumbent Representative Joel Camacho on the independent slate aligned with the gubernatorial campaign of Arnold Palacios and David Apatang; Camacho and Omar won both of the district’s seats, defeating two Republican candidates. Palacios was elected governor in the same cycle.
In the 24th Commonwealth Legislature, Omar chairs the House Committee on Health and Welfare.
