Biography

Lynn Melton is an American Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 36th district. She has served since 2023, winning the seat in the 2022 Kansas House of Representatives election against the Republican nominee Kevin Braun.

Before her political career, Melton graduated from Turner High School. Her career experience includes working as an assistant to Mayor David Alvey of the Unified Government Of Kansas City, Kansas, and Wyandotte County, a manager with DMR Advertising, and the president of American Mortgage.

In the 2022 election, Melton ran for election to the Kansas House of Representatives to represent District 36. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022. Her current term ends on January 13, 2025.

As a legislator, Melton has been assigned to several committees including the Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications Committee, General Government Budget Committee, House Local Government Committee, and House Transportation Committee.

Throughout her tenure, Melton has shown dedication and commitment to her role, working diligently to represent the interests of her constituents in the 36th district.
