Biography

Lorrie Carey is an American politician who serves as a Democratic member for the Merrimack 1st district of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. She has been in office since December 7, 2022. Prior to this, she represented Merrimack 26 from 2012 to 2014.

Born in Concord, New Hampshire, Carey attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1985 and a master’s degree in 1987. Her professional experience includes owning a small business and working in nonprofit management.

Carey is a New Hampshire native and a small business owner. She and her husband, an engineer, are longtime residents of Boscawen, New Hampshire. They are parents of four children who have grown up attending New Hampshire public schools.

In addition to her political career, Carey is involved with several organizations. These include Business & Professional Women (Franklin, NH), the Zonta International (Concord, NH), the Greater Capital Area Chamber of Commerce (Concord, NH), the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (Concord, NH), the New Hampshire School Boards Association, the New Hampshire Municipal Association, the Concord City Auditorium, the Concord Community Concert Association, Kimball Jenkins Inc., the UNH Cooperative Extension Advisory Board, the Penacook NH Historical Society, and the Town of Boscawen (Planning, OHD, Agriculture, Selectboard).

Her current term in the New Hampshire House of Representatives ends on December 4, 2024.
