Biography

Lisa Swain (born April 1958) is an American Democratic Party politician. She has represented the 38th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly since her appointment to the seat in May 2018.

Political Career

Swain served as the Mayor of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, for two terms and was previously a member of Fair Lawn’s council for 11 years. In May 2018, she and Chris Tully were appointed to the New Jersey General Assembly’s 38th District seats after Assemblymen Joseph Lagana and Tim Eustace resigned from their positions to pursue other opportunities.

Electoral History

In the 2023 general election, Swain secured re-election to the Assembly, along with her colleague Chris Tully. They defeated Republican candidates Gail Horton and Jayme Ouellete. In the 2021 general election, Swain and Tully were also successful in retaining their seats. Notably, Swain won a special election in 2018, replacing former Assemblyman Timothy Eustace.
