Linda Reksten is a dedicated public servant and educator who has made significant contributions to her community and state. Born and raised in Polson, Montana, she has deep roots in the area, with her family history intertwined with the development of Lake County. Her great-grandfather, Joseph Cline, played a pivotal role in the town’s early infrastructure, building its first flour mill and expanding the electrical grid. This legacy of service and commitment to the community has clearly influenced Linda’s own path.

Linda pursued her education with a passion for learning and teaching. She earned a degree in biology from Eastern Montana College, followed by a master’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University. She later achieved a doctorate in education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a career dedicated to improving education and empowering students.

Before entering politics, Linda worked for over three decades in the field of education. She served as a middle school and high school teacher, an elementary school principal, and eventually as a Superintendent of Schools. Her leadership extended beyond the classroom, as she also became a college professor at Point Loma Nazarene University and authored two books focused on educational strategies and leadership.

Linda’s transition into politics was driven by her desire to address the challenges facing her community. In 2020, she was elected to the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 12. Her tenure in this role was marked by her commitment to education, infrastructure, and community development. She successfully ran for re-election in 2022, continuing to advocate for policies that benefit her constituents.

Following redistricting, Linda ran for the newly drawn District 13 seat in 2024. Her campaign emphasized her dedication to reducing property taxes, improving school and county infrastructure, and fostering community collaboration. Her efforts resonated with voters, and she secured her third term in the House of Representatives.
