Following his tenure at GE, Spencer joined The Walt Disney Company, where he served from 2005 to 2021. During his time at Disney, he held various leadership roles, contributing to the company’s growth and success. In 2021, Spencer transitioned to Amazon, where he continued to excel as a corporate executive.
Spencer’s passion for public service led him to run for office in the Florida House of Representatives. In May 2024, he announced his candidacy for District 45, aiming to unseat the incumbent representative, Carolina Amesty. Spencer’s campaign focused on key issues such as economic development, education, healthcare, and community safety. His dedication to these causes resonated with voters, and he successfully won the election with 50.8% of the votes, becoming the only Democrat to flip a seat in the state House during the 2024 elections.
On November 5, 2024, Leonard Spencer was officially sworn into office, marking the beginning of his tenure as a state representative. Since then, he has been actively involved in various legislative committees, including the Commerce Committee, Industries & Professional Activities Subcommittee, Joint Administrative Procedures Committee, Careers & Workforce Subcommittee, Human Services Subcommittee, and the Transportation & Economic Development Budget Subcommittee.
