Biography

Lawrence M. Walsh Jr., also known as Larry Walsh, is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 86th district. The 86th district includes all or parts of Channahon, Elwood, Joliet, Ingalls Park, Preston Heights, and Rockdale.

Walsh was appointed to the Illinois House on April 30, 2012, following the resignation of Jack McGuire. As of July 3, 2022, Representative Walsh is a member of the following Illinois House committees: Counties & Townships Committee, Energy & Environment Committee, Health Care Licenses Committee, Police & Fire Committee, Prescription Drug Affordability Committee (Chairman of), Public Utilities Committee (Chairman of), Small Cell Subcommittee (Chairman of), and Telecom/Video Subcommittee.

Born and raised in Elwood, Illinois, Walsh is a former Jackson Township trustee and a member of the International Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union. He is also a member of St. Rose’s Parish in Wilmington. He is married to Theresa and is a proud father of three children.

Walsh has been serving in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2012 and his current term ends on January 8, 2025. He is running for re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives to represent District 86 and is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on March 19, 2024.
