Kevin Van Diepen, a member of the Republican Party, serves in the South Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 22. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 12, 2027.
Kevin Van Diepen is a lifelong resident of South Dakota and has lived in District 22 since 1985. His commitment to public service is evident in his extensive career with the Huron Police Department, where he served for 35 years. During his tenure, he held various roles, including patrol officer, drug task force officer, patrol sergeant, and patrol captain, before becoming the Chief of Police for six years. His leadership and dedication to public safety have earned him respect and recognition within the community.
Kevin is deeply involved in legislative matters, having served on the Chief of Police Association’s legislative committee for two years. His experience in law enforcement has shaped his perspective on public safety and the freedoms afforded to citizens through professional and dedicated service. He is passionate about ensuring that South Dakota remains a great place to live and raise a family, and he works tirelessly to uphold the values and way of life cherished by its residents.
Outside of his professional life, Kevin is a devoted family man. He has been married to his wife, Amy, for 35 years, and they have one adult child. His personal and professional experiences have equipped him with the skills and insights necessary to represent District 22 effectively in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
