Biography

Kevin Olickal is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 16th district. He was elected in November 2022 and assumed office on January 11, 2023.

Early Life and Education: The son of immigrants from India, Olickal was born in Evanston, Illinois, and raised in Skokie. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Ohio State University in 2010. Currently, he is a part-time law student at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Career: Prior to his run for office, Olickal worked as the executive director of the Indo-American Democratic Organization. He also served as the chief of staff for Representative Karina Villa. Olickal was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in November 2022.

Electoral History: In the Illinois 16th Representative District Democratic Primary in 2020, Olickal secured 24.54% of the votes. In the 2022 primary, he won with 53.03% of the votes. In the general election for the Illinois 16th Representative District in 2022, Olickal won with 70.86% of the votes.

Personal Life: Olickal is a lifelong resident of Skokie and the son of immigrants. He formerly worked on the House Democratic Staff and served as the Executive Director for the Indo-American Democratic Organization. He also worked as a Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Specialist for Small Businesses. Currently, he is serving as a full-time legislator and part-time law student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
