Biography

Kenneth Mapp became governor of the Virgin Islands on January 5, 2015.

Mapp began his career in public service as a police officer in New York and the Virgin Islands. He was elected to three terms as a senator in the Virgin Islands Legislature and later served as assistant director of the Industrial Development Commission and director of the Consumer Services Administration.

Mapp served as lieutenant governor from 1995 until 1999. In 2002, he was appointed as director of the Public Finance Authority. Mapp holds a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
