Daryl Joy Walters is an American politician serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 4th district, representing Caddo Parish. She assumed office on January 8, 2024.

Walters is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas and a specialized certificate from Yale University’s Women’s Campaign School.

Before her political career, Walters served as an aide for the Louisiana State Senate and was an aide for former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. She also worked for BattleGround Texas and Obama for America. Currently, she is a Democratic State Central Committee Member. She works to shape restorative justice policy from a theological aspect.

In the elections of 2023, Walters ran for election to the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 4. She won in the general election on November 18, 2023. She defeated Jasmine R. Green for the 4th district seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives with 54% of the vote.

As a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, Walters’ current term ends on January 10, 2028. Her base salary as a representative is $16,800/year with a per diem of $175/day.
