John Larochelle is a Democratic Party member serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. He represents Strafford District 19. Larochelle assumed office on December 4, 2024, and his current term is set to end on December 2, 2026.
Born and raised in Rochester, New Hampshire, John Larochelle has deep roots in his community. He attended Rochester public schools and later graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. His academic journey continued at Iowa State University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. Larochelle’s professional career includes teaching chemistry at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and working for the DuPont Company for two decades in various capacities before retiring.
Larochelle’s commitment to public service is evident in his extensive involvement in local government. He served seven terms on the Rochester City Council and held the position of Mayor for two terms. Additionally, he has been a member of the Rochester Economic Development Commission and currently serves as a Rochester Police Commissioner. His dedication to his community and his experience in governance have made him a respected figure in Strafford County.
As a state representative, Larochelle focuses on issues such as open and transparent government, assistance to the elderly, and ensuring quality education for all students. He believes in promoting social justice and upholding integrity and compassion in his decision-making process.
