Biography

State Representative John Corbett is a lifelong resident of Echols County, Georgia. He is a graduate of Echols County High School, Valdosta Technical College, and Valdosta State University. He and his wife Rebecca have been married for 29 years, and they have one daughter, Audrey Corbett Hughes, a son-in-law, Jeffery Hughes, and one granddaughter, Kenzie Anne Hughes, all living in Echols County.

John was employed as an electrician at a paper mill in Clyattville, Georgia for 17 years and then joined his brothers in Corbett Electric and Construction Co. for the past 13 years. He is also a timber farmer.

He is a member and deacon at Sardis Baptist Church, where he also serves as the Church Clerk/Treasurer and a Sunday School Teacher. He is also a member of the Echols County Lions Club.

John has been a member of the Echols County Board of Education for the past 12 years and has served as Vice-Chairman for the past 8 years.

He is an avid hunter and fisherman and is a member of the NRA. He coached girl’s softball and fastpitch softball for many years at the Boys and Girls club and also served as a community coach for Echols County High School girls fastpitch team.
