John Duffy Alderson (born November 29, 1854) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from West Virginia. He represented the state’s 3rd Congressional District and served as a federal legislator during the late nineteenth century. His service in Congress places him among the historical members who helped shape West Virginia’s representation at the national level during that period.

Alderson served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, holding office from December 2, 1889, to March 3, 1895.
