Biography

Jim Roers is an American politician and businessman who is currently serving as a member of the North Dakota Senate from the 46th district. He assumed office on December 1, 2016.

Born as James Roers in Alexandria, Minnesota, he was raised in Fargo, North Dakota. He pursued his education at North Dakota State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture.

In addition to his political career, Roers is also the president of Roers Development, a property development company. His journey in politics began when he was appointed to the North Dakota Senate in April 2012, succeeding Tom Fischer. He served until December 2012 and was elected to the Senate again in November 2016.

During his tenure, Roers has also served as vice chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. His contributions to the state and his party have been significant, leading him to run for re-election to continue representing District 46. He won the general election held on November 3, 2020.

On the personal front, Roers has been married twice. He and his first wife, Debby, have four children, including Shannon Roers Jones. After their divorce in 1995, Roers married Sandra Lorenz in 1998.
