Jerry Tillett serves as a Republican Senator for District 1 in the North Carolina state legislature.
Jerry Tillett was appointed to the North Carolina Senate on September 3, 2026, by Governor Josh Stein to replace Senator Bobby Hanig, who resigned his seat effective August 24, 2026. District 1 covers ten counties in northeastern North Carolina: Bertie, Camden, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Tyrrell. Tillett is a retired Superior Court judge from Dare County. He received both his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Wake Forest University.
