Jerry Mumford Patterson (born October 25, 1934) is a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from California. He represented California’s 38th Congressional District in Congress, serving five consecutive terms from January 14, 1975, to January 3, 1985. During this decade in office, he was part of the California delegation at a time of significant political, economic, and social change in both the state and the nation.
Patterson’s tenure in the House marked his role as a historical member of Congress for California.
